Dare County Association of Fire Officers

Welcome to the Dare County Association of Fire Officers website. Our association was created to serve as a common ground for fire officers from all of Dare County.

Dare County is a unique area along North Carolina’s beautiful coast. Situated next to the Atlantic Ocean, Dare County stretches along almost 110 miles of shoreline known the world over as the Outer Banks. Fifteen fire departments and several other agencies provide quality life safety and fire protection to the county's year-round population and a tourist population that swells during the summer months. Our departments protect a diverse area, from heavily populated resort areas to quiet residential neighborhoods to miles of undisturbed wetlands to beautiful historic locations.

The DCAFO is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.

Purpose and Objectives

1.1 To study and implement programs of Fire Protection, Fire Prevention, Fire Administration and Fire Education for Dare County.

1.2 To make community education concerning fire prevention available to the people within Dare County.

1.3 To sponsor and conduct conferences, meetings, and other programs which support code enforcement, the fire prevention process, the improvement of fire suppression and fire administration practices.

1.4 To facilitate communication among Fire Officers in Dare County, including but not limited to persons involved by interest and / or profession.

1.5 To cooperate with other community, state and national organizations that support the process of fire protection and prevention.

1.6 To create, administer and maintain a scholarship fund, to be known as the DARE COUTY ASSOCIATION OF FIRE OFFICERS SCHOLARSHIP FUND, to be utilized to provide scholarships for the children of members of departments on the basis of need and ability.
